Records of private claims to land in Brown County and Crawford County (Wis.) and in Michillimackinac County (Mich.), originally filed 1820-1823, as recorded in the Detroit Land Office and confirmed under an Act of Congress, April 17, 1828. Notes of confirmation date as late as 1882 though most occurred in 1829 and 1830. Included is a report of a commission appointed by act of May 11, 1820, for ascertaining claims. Records include testimony by witnesses of previous settlement and cultivation of the land by the claimants.
